Wigan's Kirkland moves to Doncaster on loan

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has joined Championship club Doncaster Rovers on loan until January.

The 30-year old is currently behind Ali Al Habsi at the DW Stadium and will spend the next two-and-a-half months at the Keepmoat Stadium before returning to Wigan to help the teams cause for the second part of the season.

"Chris has been working incredibly hard behind the scenes in training and has always shown true professionalism in his work and attitude," said Latics boss Roberto Martinez.

"We hope that him playing regular first-team, competitive football will not only reward his efforts but also provide him with the right challenge so as to return to the club in January ready to help the squad."
