Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is willing to offer £3.5 million for Celtic hero Scott McDonald.
The Mirror says Martinez was in Glasgow to see the Old Firm derby on Sunday but McDonald had to wait for his chance to impress - coming on as a sub and scoring the opening goal in a 1-1 draw.
The Latics chief will try to see McDonald in action again before making an offer, but his chances of getting him are high because of a row between McDonald and Bhoys' boss Tony Mowbray.
McDonald was axed after asking Mowbray for more game time and he will be looking to leave Parkhead in the window. However, he needs a hernia operation and goes in for surgery in the next 48 hours.
Goalscorer McDonald is also fancied by Middlesbrough but his old boss Gordon Strachan is struggling to raise the fee for him - so Wigan have a chance to flex their superior financial muscle.
