Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is adding another of his former Birmingham City staff to his team.

Bernard Paintain is joining the club on a part-time basis at the end of the month, ending a nine-year association with Birmingham. He arrives to join the Latics' scouting team.

Paintain said: "I'm happy to be going part-time at Wigan for Steve.

"Frank Barlow has come off the coaching side at Wigan and moved to scouting, so I will be helping him with that."

Commenting on the current unease between Latics and Birmingham, Paintain added: "We don't want to become embroiled in all of that again. When it became clear there was a position for me at Wigan, everything's been happening amicably."
