Wigan planning bid for Leeds striker Becchio

Wigan Athletic are planning a £4million bid for Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio.

Roberto Martinez wants to sign the Argentinian, who has 17 goals this season, to boost Wigan's chances of Premier League survival, says the Mirror.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock has insisted Becchio, who has 18 months left on his current deal, will not be allowed to leave when the transfer window reopens next month.

But a bid of £4m for Becchio, who turns 29 tomorrow, may be hard for Leeds to turn down, despite Warnock's insistence the forward is staying put.
