Wigan open talks with Moses and fellow youngsters

Wigan Athletic are hoping they can tie down the clubs promising youngsters to new deals.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez is keen to secure any players the club believe have a future at the DW Stadium and is particularly hopeful of extending the stay of Victor Moses who still has two years remaining on his current deal.

"I wanted to make sure once the transfer window closed that we went through players in the last years of their contracts, and players that need to get a reward for what they have achieved," the Spaniard said.

"We are going through many players in the next few weeks and Victor is one of them.

"We have got a couple of players in the final years of their contracts and we are going to start talking to make sure everyone knows where they are.

"We have said we want to achieve this season and take things further. I want the players to know where the next targets are individually in their careers.

"We have got a few young players with big roles and it is important we get stability in their careers and they can concentrate on football.

"Victor Moses is very much in that category.

"He only wants to concentrate on football and the level of football he has shown in starting the first three games has been really, really good. It is now time to kick on."
