Wigan Athletic assistant manager Graeme Jones has joined the list of names being touted as the new St Johnstone manager.
The Perth club are on the lookout for a replacement for Derek McInnes, who yesterday took the job at Championship outfit Bristol City, and Roberto Martinez' sidekick has emerged as a candidate according to skysports.com.
Saints chairman Geoff Brown says the club will not rush their decision especially as the likes of Rangers' veteran David Weir, Livingston's Gary Bollan, Ayr's Brian Reid, Arbroath player-coach Paul Sheerin and Saints youth coach Alec Cleland are being linked with the vacant role.
"We wish Derek well," Brown said. "Let's hope the next manager can do just as good a job. I will make sure we get the right man in. We won't be rushing to make an appointment.
"A quick fix is sometimes not the best route to go down and we will take our time to get a new manager in. We certainly won't be panicking.
"People who are applying for the job will have to realise where we are in Scottish football. We won't be throwing about big bucks on players."
