Wigan Athletic are moving for Hibs left-back David Murphy.

Bruce wants the highly-rated Hibs defender, who has been a hit in the Scottish Premier League since moving from Middlesbrough in 2004, and he hopes to do a £1million deal early in the New Year, says the Mirror.

Murphy, 23, is desperate to return to England and the chance to go to the Premier League appeals to him, despite Wigan's desperate current state.

Celtic and Rangers are also admirers of Murphy, but Wigan can offer more for him and higher wages, giving them a great chance of winning the race to sign him.
