James McCarthy is delighted with his first season at Wigan Athletic.

The youngster reckons the main highlight was scoring a goal on his league debut. It was the perfect way to announce his arrival in England and he hasn't looked back.

He told the Daily Record: "The best moment had to be scoring against Hull on my league debut. I will never forget it and the fact we won 4-1 helped.

"And I have loved playing at grounds such as Old Trafford, the Emirates, Anfield and Stamford Bridge.

"We played West Ham recently and the atmosphere was incredible so everything about the Premier League is fantastic. It is another world down here - the stadiums and facilities are different class and at the Emirates it's like playing football on a bowling green.

"I have Steven Gerrard's Liverpool shirt and Robbie Keane's Spurs jersey as souvenirs from this season. Maybe next season I will get my hands on more."
