Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy is happy to be playing for the Republic of Ireland.
The international experience is helping to build McCarthy's reputation.
He said: "I want to keep playing in the Premier League and more international caps would be ideal.
"I hope to get as many caps as I can. I played the last couple of games, but the boys are back from injury and suspension, so I need to be patient and be ready to do my job when called on.
"I have been delighted to be involved in the last few games."
