Wigan Athletic have launched a cheeky loan bid for Celtic striker Scott McDonald. The Australia international has been Celtic's top scorer for the past two seasons and is again amongst the goals for the Hoops this term in Europe and domestically.
It's understood Latics boss Roberto Martinez made an approach to Celtic chief Peter Lawwell about taking McDonald on a season-long loan, but was turned down. Wigan aren't expected to stop there and Celtic anticipate more offers to arrive from Premiership rivals before Tuesday night's transfer deadline.
