Middlesbrough captain Rhys Williams is being linked with Wigan Athletic.

Boro's Vital Football page suggests that new Latics boss Owen Coyle may make an approach for the 24-year old Australian during the summer transfer window.

Coyle was heavily linked with a move for Williams when he was manager at Bolton following the defender/midfielder's impressive loan spell under the Scot at Burnley in 2009.

Williams was added to the Teessiders' senior list in 2008 after spending time with the youth academy and recently signed a contract extension which ties him to the Riverside Stadium until 2016.
