Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland created transfer market chaos last week.
The People says the England international has a back injury and was not expected to play against Manchester City last night, forcing Steve Bruce to recall Carlo Nash from a loan at Stoke.
But Kirkland's problem turned out to be just a spasm and he declared himself fit - after Nash had been dragged to Eastlands by an emergency call in the morning, just a day after he joined Tony Pulis's Potteries outfit. Wigan earned a point after a goalless draw.
In turn, Stoke had to bring veteran Russell Hoult back from a loan at Notts County because of the Kirkland scare story.
Kirkland has been a regular for Latics this season but struggled with back trouble in the past.
