Wigan keeper Kirkland praises Fulham's Schwarzer

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has revealed his admiration for Fulham shot-stopper Mark Schwarzer.

The two recently tussled in a Premier League match at Wigan's DW Stadium which ended 1-1 with the Australian international taking Man of the Match honours for his extraordinary performance with the gloves for the Cottagers, which prompted 28-year old Kirkland to sing Schwarzer's praises.

"We had a lot of the game, created some good chances, but Mark Schwarzer made save after save and had a great game," Kirkland told the club's official website.

"Mark made some fantastic saves, he's a seasoned professional and I think he won the club's player of the year award last season - after a performance like that you can see why.

"He's been a great signing for Fulham, I think he was a free transfer actually, and he's consistently good week in, week out."
