Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is convinced their poor pitch can work in their favour.
"I think teams are going to struggle when they come here, because they're not going to be used to playing on pitches like that. It can play into our hands," Kirkland reasoned after victory over West Ham.
"But this was a thoroughly-deserved win - one that should have been wrapped up, given the chances we had. In other games, missing those might have come back to haunt us.
"But this was a big win for us, because it's really tight down there. I am sure it's going to be touch and go all season.
"I'm sure a couple of teams are going to put a run together and pull themselves out of it, and we have to make sure we're one of them."
