Wigan Athletic are keen to sign permanently Stoke City fullback Ryan Shotton.
The Potters could seek around £2m for homegrown defender Shotton if his loan move to Wigan becomes permanent in the January transfer window, says The Sentinel.
A long-term deal was on the cards before Monday's 11pm transfer deadline following discussions between both clubs.
But Wigan ran out of time waiting for James McCarthy's move to Everton, so Shotton's transfer had to be a loan.
