Wigan keen to keep hold of McCarthy, McManaman

Wigan Athletic are determined to ward off any potential suitors for a couple of their players.

Young guns James McCarthy and Callum McManaman are both being linked with Premier League clubs but chairman Dave Whelan is hoping they stay put as the Latics prepare for life in the Championship under Owen Coyle.

"We have always got interest in one or two lads but we have hopes of holding on to them," said the Wigan chairman.

"We have had people asking of course but we have had nothing serious on the table."
