Wigan Athletic are eyeing Algeria defender Madjid Bougherra.
The 30-year-old is currently playing in Qatar with Lekhwiya - who he joined in 2011 from Rangers.
The Latics have just lost Ivan Ramis to a long-term knee injury, so Roberto Martinez is considering Bougherra as cover.
