Wigan Athletic are stepping up their pursuit of Mauro Boselli.

The Mirror says Wigan are ready to fly in Boselli for signing talks as they close in on an £5.8million deal.

Boss Roberto Martinez is on stand-by to leave his job with ESPN America to meet the Argentinian ace if the Latics sort out the payment terms with Estudiantes.

Martinez has persuaded Dave Whelan to pay the fee, with the owner trying to stagger the payments. The striker's agent flies in tomorrow to discuss terms.
