Wigan Athletic are confident of closing a deal for Olimpia defender Johnny Palacios.
The Manchester Evening News says Wigan are favourites to sign Palacios, the younger brother of former player Wilson Palacios.
Young Palacios, a tough tackling right-back, has been lined up as the long-term replacement for Mario Melchiot.
