Sunderland will revive a bid for Wigan Athletic fullback Maynor Figueroa in the summer.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has been forced to play centre-half Anton Ferdinand at left-back since the New Year.
The Daily Mail says Wigan boss Roberto Martinez expects Sunderland to make a £6m offer for Figueroa and wants a ready made replacement.
