Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is ready to hand Maynor Figueroa new deal.

The Mirror says Martinez wants to stuff Steve Bruce's Sunderland by giving left-back Figueroa a lucrative new deal.

Martinez slammed Bruce and Figueroa's agents for unsettling the player after the Latics boss turned down a bid for the star defender.

And now Martinez has put a new deal on the table for Figueroa which would almost double his salary and keep him out of the clutches of the Black Cats.
