Wigan boss Steve Bruce has rubbished claims that Rangers' striker, Kris Boyd, was on his way to The Latics. Bruce had been rumoured to be preparing a swoop for the former Scotland international after Boyd yesterday failed to agree personal terms with Championship outfit Birmingham City.

"We've heard all the tittle-tattle. I've been told this morning I've been linked with Kris Boyd at Rangers," Bruce commented.

"It is the first I've known about it. I read he was in Birmingham yesterday so perhaps they've got me mixed up and still think I'm the Birmingham manager."
