Wigan Athletic defender Steve Gohouri is ready for his showdown with Chelsea ace Didier Drogba tomorrow.
Gohouri teamed up with Drogba at the World Cup, although the Ivory Coast were unable to advance to the knockout stages having been grouped with Brazil and Portugal.
He told the Wigan Evening Post: "We all remember what happened on the last game of last season, but this is a different game.
"It's a whole new league and we have different targets that we are trying to achieve this season. And it's a great chance for us to bounce back. We didn't get off to the best start against Blackpool, and we must focus from the first whistle against Chelsea.
"It doesn't really matter who we are playing - we just need to have the same objective, which is a better display. But it's always special to play against the big teams and Chelsea are the top team, so it will be extra tough for us.
"We all want to show we are a better team than what we showed against Blackpool. And we owe the fans a performance. We can't play like that every week."
