Wigan Athletic are confident of resisting interest from Fulham for their defender Paul Scharner.

The Manchester Evening News says Wigan are confident Scharner will soon sign an extended two-year contract. Scharner has said he is happy at Wigan but there is outside interest with Fulham particularly keen.

Back in January, Roy Hodgson tabled two bids to try and lure the Austrian to Craven Cottage.
