Wigan Athletic chief Brenda Spencer expects exciting times with Steve Bruce in charge.

She said: "Hopefully, we will have a few new players - who comes in is down to the manager. All I can say is if they are half as good as Chris Kirkland is, we will do well next season.

"Hopefully, it will be better than what we've done for the last two years when we've struggled a bit.

"We performed really well when Steve came in last season. With him in charge and the team we have got, I think Wigan are on the up."
