Wigan Athletic are chasing Bristol City goalkeeper David James.
The People says Wigan will offer James a return to the Premier League if they escape relegation.
The former England keeper dropped into the Championship with Bristol City last season. But JJB boss Roberto Martinez reckons he could still do a job in the top flight.
James moved to City so he could be close to home. However, the chance of a swansong could appeal to him.
