Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is proud of his club reaching the Europa League.

The Latics are in next season's competition after reaching the FA Cup final.

Whelan said: "Europe will be something new for Wigan, yes. It will be fantastic.

"The chances are now that we are going to get into Europe which will be another whole chapter of our history.

"We would never have dreamed of that. Even when I arrived at Wigan and said we were going to get to the Premier League, I never dreamed of Europe.

"It is somewhere you think you will never ever get to - apart from holidays in Majorca.

"It is good, isn't it - Wigan against the biggest names in Europe."
