Wigan chairman Whelan prepared to wait for McLeish

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is prepared to wait for Scotland boss Alex McLeish.

The Mirror says Whelan is under pressure to bring in a replacement for Chris Hutchings quickly, but he is prepared to wait while his senior advisers do their homework.

Moving for McLeish at this time is unbelievably delicate because his Scotland side face their biggest game in a decade against Italy at Hampden Park next weekend.

But Wigan would still want some sort of indication from the highly-regarded boss that he is interested before they consider anyone else.
