Wigan chairman Whelan: Players upset with empty seats

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan admits their lack of support is upsetting the players.

Steve Bruce's side are seventh but their average crowd is just over 18,000 at the 25,000-seat stadium.

That is less than League One clubs Leicester and Leeds.

And chairman Whelan rapped: "Wigan people have to ask themselves, do they want a Premier League team or not?

"It is very disappointing for me and for the players to see all the empty seats."
