Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan won't block Roberto Martinez from leaving in the summer.
Martinez delivered the FA Cup to Whelan on Saturday and is being linked with Everton.
"Whenever he wants to go I'll release him immediately," said Wigan's millionaire owner.
"But he will only go to a big, big club and I don't think Everton are big enough.
"He's always in demand but he deals with it. He tells me everything. He's the most honest man you'll ever meet, and if anybody approaches him he tells me.
"It's Roberto's decision. I don't think he'll go, but if he does I'll shake his hand and wish him good luck because he's been a brilliant manager for us. I hope he continues for another four or five years."
