Wigan chairman Dave Whelan elected to miss yesterday's 1-1 draw at West Ham United.
He was on holiday in St Tropez so did not have to face West Ham's directors after backing Sheffield United's appeal to have the Hammers relegated last season over the Carlos Tevez affair.
