Wigan chairman Whelan convinced Moses will thrive at Chelsea

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has paid tribute to Victor Moses after selling him to Chelsea.

Whelan's efforts to persuade Moses to stay have fallen on deaf ears, with the ex-Crystal Palace star completing a £9million move last night.

Whelan said: "Only time will tell if Victor has made the right decision but I hope that it turns out well for him.

"If they treat him as they should, I am certain he will work wonders for them. He is a good player, a great lad and a solid professional, totally dedicated to his sport.

"He will be able to handle life among all those superstars at Chelsea as nothing bothers him.

"He will be fine. He will do well. I hope he has a great career at Chelsea.

"How he gets on there will depend on how much Chelsea want from him and how soon, because he was still learning the ropes with our manager Roberto Martinez."
