Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has concerns over the Premiership's growing foreign ownership.
Whelan told Setanta Sports News: "It's a worry that so many foreign owners are coming in that it's going to affect our national team.
"We have to have class and quality and support for the Premier League, but when the Arabs come in like they have and they're just throwing money down like that, it just makes the Premier League look a little bit strange and the rest of Europe must be thinking 'what the hell's going on there?' but I do welcome foreign investment and for Manchester City supporters it's going to be a fantastic ride."
Whelan added: "I do my best and it's like Blackburn and Bolton, the teams who are owned privately by English lads, we run it with pride and that's what I want these foreign people to realise, we are very proud of the Premier League, very proud of the football league and we love our football. I don't want them coming in, thinking they can throw money on the table and say 'right, we're going to control this game.'"
