Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan insists midfielder Lee Cattermole will not be following Steve Bruce to Sunderland.

Whelan insists he has no intentions of the letting the former Middlesbrough man leave the club.

"Lee is not going anywhere," he said of the combative midfielder.

"You just cannot replace these kind of players."
