Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez wants chairman Dave Whelan to leave the team out at Wembley before their FA Cup semifinal.
Wembley bore witness to the moment of Whelan's playing career ended - he suffered a double leg break when playing for Blackburn against Wolves in the 1960 FA Cup final - so Martinez is adamant that Whelan's next trip is one that should be remembered for all the right reasons.
"I haven't spoken with him yet but, yes, I would let him lead the team out," said Martinez. "If he wants to do it, I would definitely do that. The chairman has put this story together. For him to be able to go to Wembley is an incredible moment and he deserves that."
