Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is chasing Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano.

The Daily Star Sunday says Gargano, 28, is ready for a fresh challenge after joining the Serie A side from Uruguayan outfit Danubio for a fee of £2m five years ago.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri has hinted the time is right for Gargano to move on.

He said: "Don't ask me whether Gargano could now be sold.

"All I can say is that I want motivated players."
