Wigan boss Martinez still watching Spurs video nasty

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez admits he's watched their thrashing at Tottenham - over and over again!

The Latics boss insists if his team can bounce back from their horror hammering, it will prove he can survive anything football might throw at him.

Martinez said: "I have made myself watch the game about 10 times to try to analyse what went wrong. It has been a painful, hurtful experience. But if I can come through this it will make me bullet-proof for the next 20 years!

"I will not let this knock my confidence. I am very strong and you always have to do what you believe is right.

"I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees."

Martinez, 36, admits it is a huge worry that Wigan collapsed so dramatically after trailing Harry Redknapp's side just 1-0 at half-time.

It has been a similar story before this season - the Latics were beaten 5-0 by Manchester United and lost 4-0 to both Arsenal and Portsmouth.

The Spaniard added: "This was no different to other times when we have folded mentally - and that is more than a football issue.

"I watched the match so many times because there are things I needed to see. When we are focused we can beat anyone.

"When we are good, we are very, very good - we showed that by becoming the first team to beat Chelsea, and by winning at Villa and Burnley.

"But when we are off our game, we are really off it."
