Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez does take satisfaction from Swansea City's success.
Despite defeat on Saturday, Martinez was happy to talk of his pride at his former club's development, claiming he is not surprised that there is a full Spanish international in the ranks.
He said: "The football concepts at Swansea are very strong and I am proud of that.
"There are certain football backgrounds that fit in very well.
"We all know the Dutch school, the Spanish school, they fit in very well.
"Unfortunately, it was bad to see them today."
