Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is happy to give trialist Modeste M'Bami time to prove himself.

"He has a great pedigree - he used to play for Marseille, Sedan and Paris St Germain, he played Champions League football (with Marseille) last year and is a great age at 26," said the Latics boss.

"At the moment he is still working with us. He missed a lot of football in pre-season and he is not fully fit yet.

"We will allow him to enjoy his training, set his own standards and regain his fitness before assessing him further down the line and make a final decision.

"But he is a great character, he has great experience and it is good to have him around the place."
