Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is of the belief that Robin van Persie has proved the critics wrong following his beginning to life with Manchester United.
The Spanish tactician is preparing to quell the Dutchman this Saturday when the Latics head to Old Trafford and has spoken highly of the way the former arsenal star has settled in with last season's runners-up.
"We all know what level Robin van Persie is at. What he did with Arsenal - not many players can reach that level," Martinez told The Wigan Observer.
"Obviously he went to Manchester United, and you're expecting him to take a little bit of time to settle in.
"But he proves everyone wrong with a phenomenal display against Southampton. "
van Persie has netted four goals in three outings for United including the match-winning hat-trick against the Saints which brought up his 100th Premier League goal.
