Wigan boss Martinez: Man Utd peaking at right time to beat Barcelona

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez believes Manchester United can beat Barcelona for this season's Champions League.

United face Schalke in the semifinals tonight.

"I think playing at Wembley will be a massive factor in United's favour," he said.

"They also have the experience of the last time they played against Barcelona. The manager has got that know-how of what to expect so I don't see it as a foregone conclusion.

"I see Barca as clear favourites against Real Madrid but if it is a final between Barca and Man United it will be 50-50.

"But I agree it would be easier for United to play against Real Madrid than Barcelona."

Martinez also believes Fergie's side are peaking at the right time.

He said: "Until recently they had just been winning games but all of a sudden you've got Antonio Valencia coming back and Wayne Rooney at his best again.

"Chicharito has been the most impressive signing in the Premier League this season and Nani is doing well so all of a sudden the team is ready to compete."
