Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez admits he was a huge fan of Kenny Dalglish as a Liverpool player.
Wigan face Dalglish's Liverpool today.
Martinez told Absolute Radio: "Well as a player, it's that sort of flair, player full of quality and stylish, and he was a little bit of a true ambassador of the British game and the English game. In Spain, back in the 90s or even earlier, everything was about the Liverpool side, and Kenny Dalglish was a little bit the masterpiece of all.
"Then, as a manager, when I came back in '95, it was a real great story about Blackburn Rovers winning the League and he was the manager, and once more he's a special figure, a real ambassador of the English game, and obviously, with his Scottish past, at international level he's someone that is unique, and he's a true legend of Liverpool Football Club, and that's not easily said.
"So we're really, really excited about playing against Kenny Dalglish's side, but as I say, the need for points and the importance of the game for us is so huge, that we need to be focused about our performance and try to be as good as we can in an exciting game."
