Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has highlighted the influence of skipper Gary Caldwell on their survival mission.
Martinez has taken time out to hail his skipper for galvanising a disparate bunch and rallying them behind a common cause.
Martinez said of the 30-year-old Scotland international: "Gary has been a very consistent character and I think you have seen that since he arrived at the football club.
"I don't think it has just been this season - it is part of his nature.
"He is a leader and someone who has real high standards, and that affects other players.
"I think the biggest strength of Gary is that he has been able to get the whole group together."
