Wigan boss Martinez: England will regret allowing Moses to commit to Nigeria

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez feels England have been caught out ignoring Victor Moses.

Former Crystal Palace star Moses was outstanding for the 1-1 draw with Norwich City on Saturday.

Moses, who made his Under-21 debut at the start of last season, was only on Stuart Pearce's stand-by list for the tournament in Denmark and has now decided to play for Nigeria instead.

"It was a shame when they decided not to call him up because I think it was a big miss for England," said Martinez.

"I think he's played enough games in the Premier League for people to know about him. I don't think Victor is an unknown or someone no-one knows about.

"He's a unique player but he's also a really quiet boy. I think it would surprise you.

"He wants to be the best that he can be and he loves playing football. That's refreshing nowadays, to have a player who loves playing football. I know it sounds strange, but there are not many."
