Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez was pleased to hand new signing Mohamed Diame a debut in their defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
Diame was rushed into the starting line-up after completing his protracted transfer from Rayo Vallecano and Martinez said: "He is a superb athlete, very tactically aware and strong in the tackle.
"He is a player who has the potential to really grace the Premier League. We are really excited to have him here at our club.
"Mohamed adds competition to the squad and give another dimension for our team."
