Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is desperate for the DW pitch to be settled down.
The bulldozers will move in within hours of the end of Wigan Warriors's home game against Catalans Dragons this Friday, and will have nine days to work their magic before Rafa Benitez's Reds are in town.
"It's clear that the surface at the DW has become a problem over the past few weeks," Martinez said.
"I would never use that as an excuse because it's the same for both teams, but we have to try and do what we can. I am delighted we have been able to take this action swiftly as a club."
