Wigan boss Martinez convinced Rodallega will fire them to safety

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez feels focused Hugo Rodallega can fire them to safety.

Martinez feels keeping him focused will dramatically enhance Wigan’s chances of extricating themselves from an improbable position once again.

"It was a great moment for us when the window closed," said Martinez. "It settles everyone down and keeps everyone focused on the football again. Seeing Hugo come on like he did, in that manner, when he showed a real intent to play for Wigan and to help the team was brilliant.

"That’s the attitude we all need to have. It’s a massive bonus having him still here. We have to be realistic, but he can play a big role over the rest of the season for us.

"It’s important as a human being that everything is sorted and when there are so many distractions in the window, it is difficult to be focused. But Hugo’s been working really hard to help the team. He is a massive asset."
