Wigan Athletic boss Malky Mackay felt he had the support of Cardiff City's away fans last night.
Despite the scandal that followed the aftermath of Mackay's controversial Cardiff exit, the travelling supporters at the DW Stadium sang the former City chief's name early in the first-half of their 1-0 win.
Mackay said: "That was something I am immensely proud of. I had a terrific time at Cardiff, I loved the city and being at the football club.
"And I tried my very best for that football club so to get that response tonight will live with me.
"But overall it is a disappointing night against a defence we knew would sit-in. I asked my players to test the goalkeeper and we did, but we were playing against the best goalkeeper in the division and pulled off great saves."
