Wigan boss Hutchings in market for keeper

Wigan Athletic boss Chris Hutchings has targeted a goalkeeper this summer with reports linking Roy Carroll with a return to the JJB Stadium.

Carroll, currently second choice at West Ham, made 170 appearances in four years with the Latics before signing for Manchester United for £2.5million in July 2001.

Veteran keeper Mike Pollitt has yet to sign a new one-year contract which has left the new Latics boss planning a summer move.

"We are looking to bring another goalkeeper in. We need competition for places and cover all over the park," he admitted.

"There are a lot of players being linked with us at the moment - that happens at most clubs - some of them are true and others not so."
