Wigan boss Chris Hutchings has certainly left no stone unturned in his bid to fill the gap Emile Heskey's injury has left in the Latics attack.

Chatting in Sir Alex Ferguson's office after last weekend's game, he asked the United boss if Wayne Rooney was available on loan, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"We had a glass of red wine and I just said 'could we borrow Rooney?' Hutchings revealed.

"I also asked what were the chances of taking Tevez and, when Saha is fit again, could we have him for a few months as well!"
